How to Donate
Multiple ways to give
Your gift to the Green for Greens fund is more than just a donation—it’s a direct investment in your neighbors and a healthier, more sustainable food system. This unique program creates a closed loop of local support.
Here’s how it works:
A $50 donation to the fund matches a customer’s SNAP benefits, doubling their food budget to $100. That $100 is then spent on fresh, local products from the farmers, bakers, and makers you know and love.
When you give, give locally and help nourish our community.
We have tons of ways to give!

Smart Giving
Smart Giving opens up a new frontier of charitable contributions. This includes giving through Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), and stock gifts. Each offering brings unique tax advantages, allowing you to magnify your impact on our mission while optimizing your financial strategy.
Qualified Charitable Distributions
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA to a nonprofit, counted towards your required minimum distributions for the year, without treating the distribution as taxable income. This option is available to people over the age of 70 ½.
To make a QCD: Contact your financial institution and request a QCD distribution to be made to Neighborhood Markets, Inc., Tax ID 82-4395257 and please alert us to look out for your gift!
Donor-Advised Funds
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is like your own charitable savings account. You contribute to the fund as frequently as you like and then recommend grants to nonprofits like ours, all while potentially earning immediate tax benefits.
To give from your DAF: Contact your DAF and request a gift to be made to Neighborhood Markets, Inc. tax ID 82-4395257
Stock Gifts
Donating appreciated stocks can provide substantial support to our cause and potentially help you avoid capital gains taxes and claim a tax deduction based on the full market value of your stocks.
To donate stocks: Please notify Stephen Johnson of your gift of stock and request giving instructions. These instructions will be helpful before contacting your financial institution.

About Us
Neighborhood Markets, Inc. Is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports grassroots, community led markets in Greensboro, NC.
Neighborhood markets build healthy communities by making fresh food more accessible. Neighborhood markets help small growers and food sellers become self sufficient by providing a venue to connect directly with consumers who spend their dollars close to home.
Through the Green for Greens fund, we build local food security by feeding neighbors who are struggling and generating income for the farmers and others who feed us.
We currently support two thriving Greensboro markets, The People’s Market in Glenwood and The Corner Farmers Market on West Market Street. Both our markets were established in 2014.
Our EIN number is: 82-4395257
We’ve earned our Silver Seal of Transparency with @CandidDotOrg!
